Mushroom Ragout
My favorite way to have this mushroom ragout is with some creamy polenta, mash potatoes, or over a bed of pasta. It’s so packed with flavor because of the mushroom. Itās bursting with umami flavor and you will want to eat this completely on its own. The thing is, you totally can! Whoās stopping you?
This mushroom sauce is savory, with tomato paste, and garlic to add to the umami flavor of the mushrooms. Perfect recipe for a weeknight, when you have just a few minutes to whip something up. Especially now that the holidays are right around the corner. This is a great recipe to have in your arsenal, because it cooks up in just a couple minutes and you can make some instant mash potatoes, pasta, or instant polenta to get those tummies full quickly.
What is the difference between a ragout and a ragout?
Ragout, originates in France and is similar to a stew, and is typically cooked slow. Ragout, originates in Italy and is more of a pasta sauce that is typically made with ground meat.
How do you make it?
Step 1: In a skillet, over medium high heat, add oil and onions. Cook until translucent. Add in the garlic and cook for 1 minute or until fragrant.
Step 2: Add in mushrooms and cook down until mushrooms have become golden in color. This should take about 5 minutes.
Step 3: Add in the remainder of the ingredients. Mix to combine and cook for 4-5 minutes. Serve over warm polenta, rice or anything you like and ENJOY!
