Homemade Vegan Cheese

I was one of those people who would say "I can never go vegan because I can never give up cheese" lol, and even though it was a challenge at first I was able to move on and find delicious cheese alternatives, and although some vegan cheeses out on the market are really good, buying them all time time can get really expensive if you have kids who love cheese or if you like to use it in a lot of things. I started thinking and was like "it can't be that hard to make". Surprisingly, I was right! I'ts super easy. I would still buy store bought when I am lazy or just don't feel like making it but this is a super easy way to make it and hardens in 30 minutes. You can also change this up and add your own spices and even make it pepper jack which my 8 year old loves too.

Homemade Vegan Cheese

Ingredients

Cheese Mix 1 1 /2 cups Almond Milk 1/2 cup cashew nuts (I used Roasted) 1/2 cup nutritional yeast 1 tbs apple cider vinegar 3 tbs grape seed oil (or oil of choice)

1/4 rell bell pepper (fire roasted) I placed mine over the burner fire until it became charred 2 tbs miso paste 1/2 tsp pepper 2 tsp salt

Agar mixture 2 1/2 tbps agar agar powder

1 1/3 cup water

Instructions

In a blender, add in all the cheese mix ingredients and blend until everything is completely smoothie. As smooth as possible, any chunks will come through in your final firm cheese, so you want this mix as smooth as you can get it. Once smooth keep in blender for next step.

Prepare plastic molds or plastic containers to add the finished mix into.

(work very quickly during this step. The agar agar will harden as soon as it comes of the heat

In a small sauce pan, on medium high heat, add in water and agar agar and continuously mix until the mix has turned into a thick gel. Very quickly add the agar agar gel into the blender with the cheese mix and quickly blend together until everything is well blended. Scrap sides and blend more if needed.

Quickly pour the mix into containers. Place in refrigerator to firm up. This takes about 30 minutes. Once the "cheese" has firmed up you can slice it, shred it, melt it, and do whatever you like with it. All that is left to do now is ENJOY!
