In a large mixing bowl mix all the cake mix ingredients together and set aside.
Add water into a medium size pot along with the remainder of the filling ingredients. Whisk all ingredients well and then turn on heat to medium.
Bring filling to a simmer and allow to cook for 4 minutes.
Grease the edges of a 8x8 baking dish. Pour in the filling, smooth it out with a spatula.
Take half of the cake mix and smooth over the apple filling. The remain half of the cake mix is not needed.
Pour the melted butter over top of the cake mix, as evenly as possible. Place cake into the oven for 60 minutes. Cook an additional 5 minutes if you want the topping to be a bit more crisp.
Allow cake to cool completely and ENJOY!

Tip: You can substitute butter with a can of lemon lime soda
